Thank you for considering making a donation to Powell River Food Bank. The incredible generosity of Powell River’s people and businesses have made it possible to provide hampers to hundreds of households in the area.
More than 40% of these households have their main source of income from disability benefits, and 28% of people who receive food from us are children.
Canned Donations
Canned donations play a big role in our ability to offer food to individuals and families. It is important to check the date of all your donations before bringing them in. We cannot accept anything with an expiry of more than 3 months.
There are several businesses in town with donation bins: Safeway, Save On, Quality Foods and Serious Coffee.
We also accept donations at the food bank during business hours: Tues, Wed & Thurs every week, from 10 – 2.
Farm Produce
With the BC Farm Credit program, you are now eligible for a 25% tax credit on all your donations of produce and meat within a year.

Cash Donations
Cash donations allow us to purchase more food. We have access to more discounts, which allow us to buy more food with every dollar. Cash donations also allow us to purchase fresh produce and meat from local farmers in order to offer foods that are more nutritious to individuals.
Our ability to offer more hampers and services relies heavily on cash donations. Every dollar makes a difference.

If you prefer, you can mail a cheque or money order, or bring your donation in person. Powell River Food Bank is located at 6816B Alberni Street, Powell River BC V8A 2B4 and we are open from 10-2 every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.

Receipts
We will automatically send you an Official Tax Receipt if while making the donation, you state in the area for messages or special Instructions that you would like a receipt AND include your full name, street address, and mailing or email address.
When you donate using CanadaHelps or PayPal, you can get official CRA receipts directly from their websites.
Official Tax Receipts for tax purposes available on request; please contact us with the following information.
- donor full name*, including middle initial**
- donor address**
- amount
- date of donation
- method of donation e.g. e-transfer, Interac, direct deposit, etc
- email or mailing address to send the receipt to.
*Please note that Official Tax Receipts must be in the name of the actual donor; it cannot be in someone else’s name.
