Greenhouse

A grant from Food Banks Canada paid for a greenhouse,to allow us to supply more fresh produce for the hampers. It is located in the Powell River Brain Injury Society garden. Since then we have received funding on a yearly basis for to buy seeds, supplies and equipment, as well as paying a gardener.

We have had excellent results and are overjoyed to be able to offer this to those in need.

The project has finished for now and the greenhouse sold to the Brain Injury Society.

Installation

We purchased a kit which was put together by Sunshine Rotary.

Next step is to build the garden beds. The Brainiacs have found these raised beds make gardening much easier and more productive.

Here is the lumber being delivered by Lois Lumber, who gave us a good deal.

Workers paid with grant funds put together the raised beds, filled them with prepared soil and got the growing started. We have grown a variety of produce that usually gives a good harvest. As all gardeners know, constant changes and improvements are necessary to get the best from our garden!

We purchase supplies locally and have taken part in local seed-saving exchanges. We hope continue this project for years to come!
