B.C. Farmers’ Food Donation Income Tax Credit

Farmers: Farm to Food Bank

With the BC Farm Credit program, you are now eligible for a 25% tax credit on all your donations of produce and meat within a year.

There are limited funds available to purchase from farmers. This supports members of our community and feeds nutritious foods to users of the Food Bank.

BC Farmers Food Donation Tax Credit?

The credit is 25 per cent of the eligible amount of a farmer’s qualifying gifts for the tax year. The credit is available to farmers or their spouses or common-law partners who make a gift of agricultural product after February 16, 2016 and before January 1, 2024.

What products is the Food Bank interested in?

The Food Bank is interested in fresh or frozen vegetables, fruit and meat, as well as eggs and bread. The Food Bank is not able to accept or purchase donations of home canned food. If you bring commercially canned goods for donation to the food bank we ask that you check the expiry date to ensure it hasn’t expired within six months.
